Harry Kane is among the highly forwards in World football at the moment. The Englishman has been scoring goals for fun at Tottenham Hotspur. However recently in an interaction former England and Spurs striker, Jermain Defoe made some uneasy remarks for the Lillywhites and their supporters regarding Harry Kane.
Despite Kane’s excellent form the English striker is still waiting to win his first silverware with Spurs even after 12 years at the club. Therefore Defoe clearly mentioned that Kane won’t win anything staying in North London and he wants him to move out and look at other options.
The Jose Mourinho led side are currently struggling in 6th position in the Premier League points table and are already knocked out of the Europa League after losing to Dinamo Zagreb. Therefore they will most probably end this season empty-handed and there are high chances that they won’t qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the next season. So Kane despite being one of the best strikers currently has to feature in the lower stage of European football.
So Defoe who is currently featuring for Scottish outfit, Rangers said that the 27-year-old should look elsewhere to fulfil his ambitions of winning trophies. “You have to win and bring silverware, otherwise it’s not good enough,” he told talkSPORT regarding Kane’s situation at Spurs.
“When you actually achieve that and the feeling you get from that, wow man. I wish I had that earlier on in my career. If Harry Kane wants that and wants to win trophies then it looks like he has to go.
“I don’t think it will be easy for him to leave and he might be looking at it and want to finish off being the highest goalscorer in the club’s history and see where that takes him. He can hopefully win a few trophies, but if he’s really craving medals then he really has to go.”
While the English marksman is contracted with Spurs till 2024, there has been no shortage in speculations of the 27-year-old leaving Spurs this summer.
However, when asked about the situation, Kane himself said that he wants to concentrate on the job at hand and will take a final call after the upcoming Euros. He said, “I think that’s a hard question to answer right now.
“It’s important that all my focus is on the two England games coming up now and the rest of the season with Spurs and then the Euros. I’m fully focused on doing the job on the pitch from now until the end of the summer and then we’ll see where we go from there.”
Manchester United have emerged as favourites to sign the English striker whereas clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona are also plotting a big-money move for a forward this summer and Kane’s goal-scoring exploits may intrigue them.
