Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has stated that he is now ready to move into the next managerial position after settling out of a managerial job after leaving Chelsea last season. 

Graham Potter is one of the names being linked to the vacant England position after Gareth Southgate left his position aftermath of the Euros final loss to Spain in Germany.

Several managers have been linked to the job including Pep Guardiola whom reports say the FA are ready to wait for his contract at Manchester City to expire before approaching him whilst hiring an interim manager.

However, Potter, alongside Eddie Howe, is one of the few English managers being monitored by the FA, and Potter believes he’s in a good place to do a new job.

“Now I’m in that good place where I’m happy to be ready and looking forward to the next challenge. I’ve had a great break. The journey from where I started to where I finished doesn’t come for free. It involves moving to three countries, with a young family, and all that comes with being a football manager. It was important for me to take a break, reflect and re-energize. I feel really ready, really excited to be back when the right opportunity comes.” Potter said.

49-year-old Potter was sacked by Chelsea in April 2023, and he has not done any job since then. He previously managed Ostersund, Swansea and Brighton. He revealed that he had held discussions with a number of clubs, but he is looking for and waiting for the right opportunity.

He also gave accolades to Gareth Southgate for his competence in leading the Three Lions to the Euros final against Spain last Sunday. However, Gareth Southgate resigned from the job on Tuesday barely two days after the final despite having a contract with the English FA until December 2024.

England’s next game comes in September when the Nations League resumes with a clash with Ireland.
