Arsenal have entered this transfer market looking to sign some players to strengthen their lineup as they failed to qualify for the Champions League last season. So Mikel Arteta needs to make some serious signings to get better next year as they aim to get back among Europe’s elites. The Gunners are currently linked with Leeds United winger Raphinha. The Brazilian is among the top targets this season for Arteta but it won’t be easy as he is wanted by many clubs.
Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has urged the Gunners to snap up Raphinha as he believes that it will be a great move. However with many team all across Europe interested in the 25-year-old winger, things can get a little feisty for Arsenal. The area where the Gunners are a little behind is lack of Champions League football, something that Liverpool, Barcelona and PSG can offer him easily.
Raphinha has impressed everyone as he scored 11 goals in 36 appearances across different competitions. The young Brazilian was one of the shining lights in Jesse Marsch’s team last season and that caught the eye of Liverpool and Barcelona. Arsenal joined the race later on when David Ornstein reported that the North London outfit are interested in the Brazilian and have already made an offer.
While the race to sign Raphinha is intense, Kevin Campbell shared his opinion on why getting the Brazilian will be the perfect move for the Gunners this summer. “I do rate him. You can tell by the type of teams that are in for him, there were rumours Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and big rumours on Barcelona.”
Campbell shared how he feels that Barcelona wanted Leeds to get relegated and secure Raphinha at a cut price but now as they stayed up, things will get tricky. He does not feel that barcelona can afford signing the Brazilian.
He then added how getting him will mean a lot about Arsenal’s ambition as a team. He added, “Now, wouldn’t it be a great move for Arsenal to go in and grab him? All those teams are Champions League sides. Yet, if we can go in and get him, that tells your ambition.”
There have been reports suggesting that Raphinha had a release clause of €25 million which would have been active if the Whites had relegated from the Premier League. But that has not happened bring sorrow to the clubs chasing the Brazilian.
