Arsenal are in search for a forward who can take their young unit ahead and their primary target is Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus who is all set to leave the club after Erling Haaland’s arrival this summer. However, it won’t be easy for Arsenal as Jesus has several clubs in the waiting list who want to secure his signature.
Manchester City remained as champions despite the pressure all season from Liverpool. Jesus played a big role in that as Pep Guardiola used him in different roles upfront. But now with Erling Haaland joining the Citizens, Jesus wants to move away from Manchester in search of game time.
In all of this, Arsenal legend Gilberto SIlva who is also a former Brazilian international has urged the Gunners to jump in for Gabriel Jaseus as Mikel Arteta needs someone to take up the mantle of scoring goals. Arteta is a big admirer of Jesus but Arsenal will have to do a lot of convincing with many teams involved in the race to sign the Brazilian.
There are event reports suggesting that Real Madrid, Chelsea and club like Tottenham Hotspur have also shown interest in the Brazilian. All the interest is mainly because of his sensational form for City as he scored 13 goals in 41 appearances but more than that he played in different positions in attack and fulfilled his role with aplomb. However that makes him a very potent forward.
Therefore Gilberto Silva has urged Arsenal to sign him as he believes that the striker will flourish under Arteta’s guidance. Silva told talkSPORT, “If he goes to Arsenal, I do believe it’s going to be a good move for him, also for Arsenal.”
The Gunners are in need of attacking reinforcements as Alexandre Lacazette is all set to leave the club as a free agent this summer. So their only option is Eddie Nketiah who has shown a lot of promise but is still young and inexperienced. Hence Gabriel Jesus can be the mainstay for Arsenal if he intends to join the club.
Nketiah who has been linked with several clubs has already cleared his stance. He highlighted his aim of playing football regularly and also shared his desire to play for the Gunners. He said, “There have been offers of a new contract, but at the moment, my aim is to play football and play regularly. That’s my ambition, and that’s what I hope to do, but at the same time, I’m at Arsenal. I love Arsenal.”
