France midfielder Youssouf Fofana says he care less about criticism of star players Kylian Mbappé and Antoine Griezmann.
The pair who led France’s attack in the EURO 2024 were not impressive. France are struggling in front of goal as Les Bleus are yet to score from the open play.
France are already semi-finalists after winking their round of 16 game against Belgium via an own goal and penalties against Portugal.
As France have once again failed to impress en route to the semifinal of the Euros, where they will face Spain on Tuesday, Didier Deschamps N continue to face criticism.
Despite reaching the semifinal, the pretournament favorites have yet to impress the public back home; 25-year-old Fofana couldn’t care less as they are already semi-finalists. All thanks to a solid defense that has conceded only one goal and has largely saved the blushes of an attack that has struggled to get off the mark.
A team is made of 14 players, but much of the blame for not scoring from open play in Germany so far has fallen on two of the nation’s biggest stars, with the captain Mbappé and vice-captain Griezmann struggling to find their goal-scoring form at this competition.
Speaking at a press conference held on Sunday before their semifinal clash with La Roja, the AS Monaco midfielder believed this criticism was unfounded.
“Personally, I don’t care. We’re semi-finalists. At the level of Antoine and Kylian, we have to realize that’s been enough to reach the semifinals. I don’t see why we would nitpick because, in the end, that’s enough.”
Item would be left to see if not scoring from open play will be enough against a Spanish side that have been impressive en route to the semifinal, having won all their games in regulation time except the quarterfinals against hosts Germany, which they won in the extra time.
