The FC Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman does not give anything away regarding Ousmane Dembele’s move away from Camp Nou. While the talks of him leaving the club were gaining momentum, Dembele injured himself at the Euros 2020.
The winger who was also a part of France’s World Cup winning side in 2018 suffered a knee problem in Les Blues European Championship encounter against Hungary. While he is injured and will be out for a few months, he is also entering his final year of the contract and continues to see his future away from Barcelona. At Camp Nou, he won’t be prioritized as players like Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay have already joined the club this summer.
Speaking about Dembele’s recent injury setbackKoeman told reporters: “I can’t say much about it because it’s bad luck that he got injured.”
When asked if the Frenchman is in his plans for next season, the Dutchman refused to rule Dembele out of the equation. “In principle, I count on everyone.”
“We’re working on improving our squad and they are decisions that we have to take. We have to accept some things, look and analyse, but right now it’s the holidays and thinking about next season. There are some things you have to accept.”
The Blaugrana have had a very busy transfer window where they have signed players like Aguero and Depay. Apart from them, the club have also snapped up former La Masia graduate Eric Garcia and full-back Emerson Royal. The new additions are definitely to bolster the defence and attack as many people feel there will be a few reinforcements coming in midfield as well.
While Barcelona are going through a financial crunch the arrival of new faces does not stop at the club. The Dutchman is looking to make more amends to his teams this summer. When questioned regarding Memphis Depay who has joined the club and signed a two year contract, Koeman said, ” “He’s a very good signing, as are Kun and Eric Garcia.
“The rest, well, like all teams we’re working to reinforce the squad.”
After last season’s disappointment in the La Liga where they finished third behind Atletico Madrid and arch rivals Real Madrid, Koeman is eager to bring a change in fortune for Barcelona in the upcoming season.
