Many Bayern Munich supporters have been criticizing the efforts of Jerome Boateng after the German side lost at home to Hoffenheim 2-1 on Saturday.
Bayern welcomed Hoffenheim to the Allianz Arena looking to extend their league on the top of the log over RB Leipzig; instead, things turned sour as Julian Nagelsmann’s side swept aside the Bavarians after a brace by Sargis Adamyan pulled Hoffenheim clear out of the relegation zone.
Adamyan opened the scoring for the visitors in the 54th minute, after Hoffenheim saw several chances blocked or went wide in the first half and later struck off a Robert Lewandowski equalizer, six minutes after the Polish star found the back of the net.
Hoffenheim’s Adamyan saw an early chance to open the scoring in the fourth minute only for Jerome Boateng to block the Armenian’s effort, with Bayern clearing the danger from the resulting corner.
The 26- year old eventually got his goal when Tolisso lost possession in midfield to Sebastian Rudy, with Adamyan drilling the ball to the far corner of the net.
Adamyan got his second when he got past Niklas Sule before firing past Manuel Neúer into the far corner again. Many Bayern fans felt Boateng could have done better to prevent being beaten twice. Fans took to social media to vent their frustration towards an experienced player who was afraid of the ball and went to ground too early many times.
The 31- year old Bayern Munich defender was the busiest of the defenders, with Boateng attempting and completing five tackles along with four interceptions. He also won the second most aerial duels of any home player. But the German center-back four successful battles for possession came from 11 attempts.
Bayern travels to FC Augsburg after the international break and will hope to get back on course.
