Rafa Benitez is already history at Everton. The ‘toffees’ announced the sacking of the Spanish coach after the defeat (2-1) against Norwich that left the Liverpool team fifteenth, with only one win in the last 13 games.
The Toffees are looking for a replacement, and Farhad Moshiri’s preferred name to succeed the Spanish coach is former Fenerbahce and Porto boss Vitor Pereira.
But fans are not happy with the decision of the club’s majority shareholder Moshiri. In fact, after Pereira’s possible appointment as the club’s coach was announced, protests broke out.
Several fans protested outside the Liver Building owned by Moshiri to express their displeasure at Pereira’s appointment.
At Goodison Park, there were also some protests and graffiti on the stadium walls that read: ‘Pereira out, Lampard in.’
Fans have made it clear that they want the former Chelsea boss in charge of the team. They have also spoken out against the club’s board.
Banners calling for the departure of chairman Bill Kenwright have been seen around Goodison Park.
Fans have said the protests will not stop until their voice is heard and the club chooses a manager they like.
However, Moshiri has not been known for taking what the fans want into account. When Rafa Benitez was appointed as manager of the club, the fans showed their dissatisfaction, and there were also several protests.
Frank Lampard has not made a statement on the matter, although it is known that he wants to return to manage in the Premier League after he departed from Chelsea a year ago.
