Harry Kane had a mind-blowing season. The Tottenham striker scored 23 goals and pipped Mohamed Salah to win the golden boot race. That was his 3rd golden boot, having previously won the award in 2015-16 and 2016-17. He is now chasing Thiery Henry’s record of 4 golden boots and at the age of 27, he should really break that record.
Kane was not only prolific in front of the goal, but also led the league for most assists. The Walthamstow born footballer provided 14 assists which trumped the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Bruno Fernandes and Trent Alexander-Arnold, three of whom created the most chances in the league. Harry Kane became the only Englishman who led the goals and assists charts in Premier League history.
The season was bittersweet for him as it was another trophyless campaign for the clinical striker. He has already announced that he wants to leave the club in order to adds some medals to his trophy cabinet. This announced has caused a lot of hype in the English media as fans and pundits started speculating which club could sign him.
One gentleman who doesn’t want to hear any of these transfer rumours is England manager Gareth Southgate. He has stated that the transfer will take place after the summer’s Euros as he doesn’t want the player’s mind to be taken away from the tournament.
When asked about Kane’s club future, Southgate said: “I don’t need to talk about Harry Kane regarding focus or professionalism. He has got one goal with us and that’s to win a European Championship.
‘”I know how important that is for him at this moment in time. What’s going on at his club is a matter for him and Tottenham.
“He’s obviously made some statements in the last few days, so in many respects that’s out of the way now. I’m talking across the board here.
“I think it’s very unlikely that transfer deals will be done while we’re away.”
The three clubs most likely to sign him are the two Manchester clubs and Chelsea as no other English club could afford his hefty price tag.
