Belgium and Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku has predicted that Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe will dominate football for the next decade. Haaland played an instrumental role in taking Manchester City to glory in the Premier League as the youngster scored 36 goals in 35 Premier League matches. Furthermore, the 22-year-old provided eight assists in the recently concluded season.
The Norwegian star also scored 12 goals in 10 matches of the UEFA Champions League and has played a key role in taking Sky Blues to the final of Europe’s biggest tournament.
On the other hand, Kylian Mbappe scored 29 goals and provided five assists in 34 Ligue 1 matches for PSG Saint-Germain and played a key role in taking the Parisians to glory. The Frenchman also played a huge role in helping France qualify for the finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
‘I think he will dominate, with Mbappe, world football for the next 10 years,’ Lukaku told CNN.
‘They will be fighting from the new generation…They will really take over (from Messi and Ronaldo) in the next two years.’
Lukaku will take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League final on June 10 and the Belgian stated it will be a good challenge to take on the best team in the world.
‘It’s a beautiful thing, playing probably against the best team in the world. I just want to enjoy it, not having pressure, just enjoy the moment, enjoy the build-up, go there to have the best result possible,’ said the Belgian.
‘Man City is a well-drilled team…Guardiola is such a good coach because every game is a different game plan.
‘It’s not the same. They have different patterns every game… And you know (Haaland) with these movements and the way how they open defences up at the end, he will get those chances because those movements and the patterns that they do, they synchronize very well.’
