Erik Ten Hag is set to continue with Manchester United ahead of a crucial week, which starts with a date with Porto in the Europa League and a trip to Aston Villa over the weekend.
This is after the Red Devils’ dismal outing against Tottenham Hotspurs at Old Trafford on Sunday as the Dutchman continues to endure intense pressure from fans and pundits alike as United’s poorly start to the campaign has left them in the 12th spot in the Premier League.
According to reports, some sources at the club have revealed the hierarchy of the club is focusing on the matches against Porto and Villa as the fans continue to wait for an official statement.
Ten Hag was handed a new one-year deal to take him through to 2026 in the summer, and the club also changed his backroom staff as Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake joined to replace Steve McClaren, Benni McCarthy, and Mitchell van der Gaag.
After Sir Jim Ratcliffe purchased a 27.7% stake in Manchester United in February, a complete overhaul of the club’s board and an eventful summer transfer window, there was renewed optimism heading into this season’s campaign.
However, the optimism has been met with a huge disappointment as Erik Ten Hag’s men have lost three matches, winning twice and a barren draw at Crystal Palace last week in six matches in the league.
In all competitions, United have played nine matches so far this season and have won just three.
Manchester United will travel to Porto in the Europa League on Thursday, having drawn against FC Twente in their opening group stage fixture last week.
They will then return to action in the Premier League at Villa Park on Sunday to take on Unai Emery’s in-form side.
That fixture will be United’s last game for 13 days as the Premier League season pauses for the October international break.
