Erik ten Hag has managed to lift Manchester United; the club has entered the top four of the table and has everything necessary to ensure its participation in European competitions. They also qualify for the FA Cup final against their city rivals Manchester City.
Recently in the game they drew against Tottenham 2-2, ten Hag praised the great job that captain Bruno Fernandes is doing, and put him as an example of what a high-level player must deliver for the club.
“It was tough. A big compliment on Bruno. He absolutely doesn’t want to miss this game; he did everything to get fit,” he told PA.
“He is the example [of] you have to struggle to play on [the] top level, and you want to achieve something.
“Once again, he showed what a great captain he is, how he has taken responsibility, even when he’s not 100 per cent fit.
“But he did the job. He was important in this game as well, and hopefully others in the team can, not learn [from him], but see him as an inspiration and do the same.”
Labeling him as ‘inspirational’, ten Hag said: “I’m really happy to have Bruno Fernandes in my team and I’m happy with him as our captain with Harry not on the pitch.”
With the possible departure of Maguire at the end of the season, it seems that ten Hag already has his successor and that he will definitively hand over the armband to the Portuguese.
In the case of Maguire, it is rumored that Leicester is plotting a move to get the player on loan because at Old Trafford the player has been relegated for his performance.
Harry has tried to defend himself against criticism by saying. “Obviously this season, I haven’t played as much as I’d like but, for my club, I feel like my form’s been good this year.
“I know people obviously look at me not playing but when I’ve played I think in my last eight or nine starts for Manchester United we have won.
“I can’t remember losing a game for Manchester United, it must be the third week of the season. So my influence is still there.”
