English Premier League games to be open only for fully vaccinated people

Football fans in England, who have not been fully vaccinated yet, now will not be able to attend the games of their favourite Football games. Premier League games will be open only to fully vaccinated people from October under the government plans.

As per the PA news agency, Talks have been underway with the Premier League to decide if supporters who have not received both jabs could be stopped from entering the stadium.

This new rule is not only for big games in the Premier League. The new rule could also be used for lower divisions and other sports, and for seated events with a capacity of more than 20,000 people.

For unseated events however, such as gigs, the maximum capacity allowed could be as low as 5,000 attendees.

As per skysports, a government source said, “It’s important that fans can continue to watch sporting events over the autumn, which is why we’re exploring the role vaccines might play in this”.

The initiative just might encourage more and more people to get vaccinated and to complete their dosages (those who have got only the first jab). “This will not only allow full capacity stadiums but has the added bonus of incentivising people of all ages to go and get their jab.”

The recent sport events such as Euro 2020 had seen fans back to stadiums after a gap of more than a year, since the covid crisis turned into global pandemic last year in March.

Not only football, Formula1 too allowed fans to attend the race as fans got back in stands in French, Styrian, Austrian and British Grand Prix. Earlier fans who were even partially vaccinated were allowed to attend the event in the UK. But with new rules in place, fans will now have to get themselves fully vaccinated before booking a seat in the stadium to see their favourite team.
