Defending La Liga champions Real Madrid got their first win of the 2024/2025 campaign with a 3-0 win over Valladolid at Santiago Bernabeu, where Brazilian wonderkid Endrick scored his first La Liga goal for Real Madrid.
Endrick joined Real Madrid in the summer after turning 18 and was on the pre-season tour for the Los Blancos, playing in the early games against AC Milan and Barcelona. However, the Brazilian who was at the Copa America hasn’t played since the 2-1 loss to Barcelona in the USA at the start of the month.
He was also an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with Osasuna in the opening game of the La Liga season. Endrick was introduced with five minutes left on the clock at Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday with the score already at 2-0 in favor of the hosts, who had taken the lead through Federico Valverde in the 50th minute.
Brahim Diaz doubled their lead in the 88th minute, two minutes after Endrick had replaced Mbappe and the substitute; Endrick became the youngest foreign player to score for Real Madrid in the entire history of La Liga at 18 years and 35 days with a stunning individual effort from the edge of the box.
However, the game was the second successive that French forward Kylian Mbappe will play without hitting the back of the net, and manager Carlo Ancelotti has reaffirmed that the former PSG frontman will score.
“Mbappé is not penalized at all by playing as a No. 9. He is a spectacular forward, fast, he moves very well without the ball, and he attacks space. Today, he had three or four chances, and he is going to score as he has always scored, no matter what position he plays in.” Ancelotti said.
Real Madrid will play Real Betis at home next Sunday, September 1.
