On-loan Atlético de Madrid striker, Moussa Dembele has said joining Atletico Marid is a big challenge for him.
The Frenchman, who has been linked with many clubs due to his performance during last season’s UEFA Champions League finally agreed to move to the Spanish La Liga club in a paid loan of € 1.5m with an option to buy for € 33.5m.
The Colchoneros were looking for a replacement for Diego Costa. He cancelled his contract with the club to become a free agent, due to lack of playing time as Diego Simeone prefers the partnership of Luis Suarez and Joao Felix.
Speaking with the club website after completing his medicals,m the 24-year-old described the La Liga side as a big club known all over the world, which is a big step for him to further his career.
Expressing his delight over the move, Dembele said he couldn’t wait to help the La Liga leaders as he is ready to work with Simeone.
While describing the Argentine tactician as one of the world’s best coaches, he hopes that they work and achieve great things together.
Dembele has been pout of action due to injury, but he appears to be fit for selection. He also said he is impressed by the club’s facilities as the Wanda Metropolitano as he expects to adapt to the climates quickly by mastering Spanish first. He is, therefore, ready to do his best in learning Castilian as quickly as possible.
Dembele, who is known for his goal record, describes himself as goalscorer said he likes receiving the ball and score goals.
It is expected that his physicality will also help him in the Spanish La Liga. The 24-year-old former Parisien further stated his major aim is to help Atletico Madrid finished the season as La Liga winner.
So far in his playing career Dembele has scored 80 goals in an overall 199 games he has played with 12,908 football minutes under his belt.
