Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund has officially unveiled and confirmed the signing of Sebastien Haller from Ajax for a fee in the region of £26.5m.
The Black and Yellow side signed the 28-year-old as a replacement for Erling Haaland, who left the club to join Premier League giants Manchester City.
Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl praised the new signing in a statement revealing how the club is excited to secure the services of Haller.
“It is with great excitement to announce the arrival of Haller to this great club. He is a player we’ve always wanted to bring on our site, and we’re happy he’s here with us”.
Haller, who has previously played in Germany before leaving to join West Ham in England, failed to make his mark as he managed 10 goals in 48 appearances for the London-based club.
However, things fell back in place for the forward as he rediscovered his form when he moved to Ajax in the Eredivisie, scoring a remarkable 47 goals in 65 outings and a whopping 10 goals in the Champi0ns League group stage. These strong performances earned him a move back to one of the best teams in the Bundesliga.
Having his first interview with the club media, Haller couldn’t hold back his excitement, saying he couldn’t wait to get the season started in front of the Dortmund fans.
“I am so happy to be here and play for this great club with a rich history. Dortmund has been a club I’ve always loved, and it’s a dream come true. I can’t wait to start the season and show the fans what I do best”.
Dortmund will hope Haller can fill in for their ex-prolific forward Halland. This seems realizable; if he remains consistent since he is not new to the Bundesliga, he will adapt well, and in no time, he will quickly become the fans’ favorite.
It will be great to see Erdin Terzic’s side boast of an attack of Karim Adeyemi and Haller, and hopefully, they bang the goals and bring Dortmund success again.
