Arsenal are picking up a bit, and their recent Carabao Cup win against Leeds United gives the club some confidence.
In the game against Leeds, boss Mikel Arteta gave Eddie Nketiah the opportunity to lead the Gunner’s attack.
Arteta’s bet paid off, and Nketiah put on a great performance, scoring one of the tournament’s best goals.
Now, the questions are about what role Nketiah will play in the Gunners attack and how this may affect Florian Balogun’s chances.
Balogun is listed as a promising youngster; however, he has not counted with many opportunities in Arteta’s first team.
The player recently renewed his contract with the Gunners and had his first league start game in the season opener against Brentford. But since then, Balogun has had no action.
When asked about the future of Balogun, boss Arteta said: “We will see what happens. Again, with Flo we have a really clear project,”
“The steps that he’s making, they are the right steps.
“Don’t forget he is really young, he hasn’t played almost any professional football, and you need to go through every phase – and don’t try to jump phases when you are not ready to do so.
“Again I’m really happy with him, he’s making the right progress and in December we will see where we are and what’s the best for him as well.”
Balogun will have to wait until December to find out about his future. Meanwhile, Gunners fans clamor for the player to be given a regular spot in the first team.
