Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement with Stade Rennais for his signature.
The 19-year-old Doué is set to join the French champions as their latest signing. According to a report by RMC Sport and confirmed by Le Parisienne, the teenager is expected to arrive in the capital on Thursday morning.
PSG had reportedly won the race for the teenager shortly after he returned from his international duty representing France at the Olympic Games. The 19-year-old has been one of the club’s key targets this summer for PSG as they faced fierce competition from Bayern Munich.
If the latest reports in France are anything to go by, it’s a done deal. Both clubs had offered Rennes similar deals, but PSG seems to have won the heart of the French lad.
L’Équipe reported that the final agreement is valued at around €50 million with bonuses not included. Thus, the deal had come down to the player’s preference and where he believed his development would be best served.
With the look of things, Doué could become an integral part of Luís Enrique’s squad because the teenager is capable of playing multiple positions. He already had experience at Rennes operating across the midfield and as a winger (with a preference for the left side of the attack).
Since he is arriving at the club at this stage in the window, he will be unlikely to feature during their opening Ligue 1 game against Le Havre AC on Friday evening.
Enrique will hope to hit the ground running this season after the distraction in the team due to the transfer saga of Kylian Mbappe.
As the star man has finally fulfilled his childhood dream of playing for Real Madrid, the current crop of PSG players will need to prove their mettle if they are to maintain dominance in the league.
