In the closing hours of the transfer window, Everton put their foot on the accelerator to sign Dele Alli from Tottenham.
The toffees managed to make a move for free. However, they could have to pay up to 40 million for the player. According to Fabrizio Romano, the ‘spurs’ will receive 12 million euros if he plays 20 games, which could rise thanks to other variables.
Frank Lampard could not sign more players on loan from the Premier after taking El Ghazi (Aston Villa) and Van de Beek (Manchester United) on loan in this market, and they had to buy Alli. The new coach of the toffees wanted the player, so the club has opened the checkbook.
For his part, the player is very excited to play at Goodison Park. During the presentation with the club, Alli said:
“Just the way the club is, and obviously, with Frank coming in and speaking to him, it feels like an amazing opportunity. I feel like I can help the team a lot and learn a lot as well.”
“Working with Frank and the amazing players they have here, it’s a very attacking way of playing football and that’s what I like to do – be on the front foot, win tackles, get in the box and score goals.
“Playing at Goodison Park before, I know the atmosphere and the fans are incredible. It’s an easy place to be happy.
“It’s an amazing opportunity to work hard, help the team and be on the pitch all the time, that’s what I want to do. I want to play and fight for the club… I’m ready.”
Dele Alli seeks to add minutes on the pitch and show that he is a top-level player. Also, with the world cup just around the corner, he needs to show his ability to be called by the three lions.
