It has been a very topsy turvy season for Cehlsea till now as they have lost consecutive away matches against Leeds United and Southampton and need reinforcements in various areas of the field. While they have secured the big money signing of Wesley Fofan from Leicester City, the Blues are also looking to add attacking firepower amidst their ranks. They have been linked with forwards like Rafael Leao and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang as Thomas Tuchel’ managed team lack a proper goal scoring forward since the departure of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.
Recently looking at their condition former England international striker Dareen bent shared how he feels Wilfried Zaha will be an ideal fit at Stamford Bridge mainly due to his exceptional dribbling and goal scoring ability. Bent has noticed massive growth in stature for Zaha ever since he joined Crystal Palace and there he acts as a leader of the team and plays with a lot of responsibility.
Looking at his current contract situation the Ivorian winger has only a year left at the Selhurst Park and may try out a different challenge if Chelsea comes up with an offer eventually. Apart from the Blues even Arsenal are linked with the Palace winger. Arsenal’s first preference was Wolves forward Pedro Neto but they have Zaha placed as an alternative if they fail to land the Portuguese winger.
The interest from everywhere is very evident as the Ivorian has started the current season with a bang. Zaha has scored four goals in as many games and is the primary spearhead of the Crystal Palace team.
Darren Bent shared how Chelsea are looking for an immediate solution and Zaha is someone who has Premier League experience and is adept in scoring goals. Bent also added how only Rahem Sterling is better than the Palace man and apart from that Zaha is better than anyone available at Stamford Bridge.
“If Chelsea were to come in and get him, then I think it’s a great signing, I really do. It maybe came too early for him (Zaha at Manchester United). He certainly looks at home at Palace. That’s his football club. But Chelsea aren’t buying for the future, they are buying players for right now,” Bent shared.
“You look at what Chelsea have right now, other than Sterling, he is better than what they have got. He is more consistent and it was his best goalscoring season last year with 14,” he reasoned.
Darren Bent continued to highlight Zaha’s quality and unpredictability with the ball in the final third. The Ivorian is known for his silky dribbles and subtle skills to beat defenders in the final third as he tends to find the opponent’s net more often than not. He compares Zaha’s quality with Newcastle United star Saint-Maximin and feels that he is something that Chelsea needs as he adds more creativity, flair and goalscoring threat.
“I think you know what you are going to get with Zaha. At one stage with Wilfried, it was a bit like Saint-Maximin. You just don’t know what’s going to happen. He had all these tricks but you don’t know when the ball is going to come in. He is almost impossible to mark one v one. He toys with people. If you put him on one side, then Sterling on the other, then they are two very, very good players,” Bent explained.
Chelsea are currently in ninth position after five Premier League games. The Blues have won two matches while the other two have ended in defeats and a solitary draw. It has been a very ordinary start to the new season for Thomas Tuchel’s men as they need to add some sp[ark in the transfer deadline or it will be a very tough season ahead.
