Former Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has expressed his appreciation to the club’s fans for how they treated him during his time in charge of the North London club.
The Italian spent 16 months in charge of Tottenham before mutually agreeing to leave the position on Sunday after he criticized the performance of the club’s players on March 19.
Tottenham went from two goals up to draw Southampton 3-3 just before the international break, a result that left Conte fuming, calling the players selfish in a presser.
However, after exiting the club, Antonio Conte showed appreciation to the Spurs fans on social media via Instagram.
“Our journey together has ended; I wish you all the best. Football is a passion. I would like to deeply thank everyone at Spurs who appreciated and shared my passion and my intense way of living football as a coach. A special thought to the fans who always showed me support and appreciation, it’s been unforgettable to hear them singing my name,” Conte said.
Tottenham have confirmed that Ryan Mason will take charge of the club in a temporary position until Daniel Levy and the club decides to appoint a permanent manager.
Tottenham are fourth on the Premier League table, but their position is under threat as they played two games more than 5th placed Newcastle United. Should United win the two standing games that they have, they would leapfrog Tottenham into fourth position.
Tottenham’s season has not been the best as they were knocked out in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League, knocked out of the FA Cup by Sheffield United, and can not win the Premier League as it stands.
They will travel to relegation strugglers Everton on Saturday after the international break. Tottenham’s next manager will be their 4th permanent manager in the last four years since Mauricio Pochettino’s exit in 2019.
