The latest reports from Italy say Chelsea is pushing to sign Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Blues have shown intention by raising their offer for Juventus.
The Blues have reportedly tabled around €80m to sign the Netherlands international, which has a €120m release clause included in his contract.
Juventus rejected a €40m bid last week. The Blues want to reportedly include Timo Werner or Christian Pulisic in the deal, but the Bianconeri rejected the Blues’ first offer.
Gazzetta reports that the Old Lady has a new proposal on the table. Il Corriere Della Sera reported a different version of the transfer saga, claiming that Chelsea will soon make a new €70m bid.
According to the paper, Juventus want at least €80m, while Gazzetta claims Bianconeri’s asking price is €90m.
De Ligt had never hidden the intention of leaving Juventus this season, as confirmed by the club’s CEO Maurizio Arrivabene earlier this week.
Juve will want to make a profit on the former Ajax captain who joined them in an €85.5m deal in 2019.
In a related development, Italy legend Francesco Totti Says Roma will have no regrets if Nicolò Zaniolo joins Juventus.
The former Italy international pointed out that the Old Lady will always sign top players, and the midfielder falls into that category.
It is no longer news that the Italy international has been heavily linked with Juve, but a move to the Allianz Stadium is hanging in the balance as there is still no agreement between the two clubs.
Roma wants €50-60m for the attacking midfielder. Juventus are also being wary of the Financial Play Rule and might just get the player on loan with an obligation to buy or in a swap deal.
Having spoken to the 22-year-old, Totti said he is convinced that his former club won’t regret seeing Zaniolo leave for Juventus if the three parties reach an agreement.
