England defender Ben Chilwell has joined Chelsea from Leicester City after signing a deal with of 45 million pounds with the blues on Wednesday.
The left-back had a contract with Leicester City till 2024. Still, his move to the Stamford Bridge came with a Five-year deal making him Frank Lampard’s third signing this summer after the arrivals of winger Hakim Ziyech, 27, from Ajax and striker Timo Werner, 24, from RB Leipzig.
The 23-year-old debuted for the Foxes in 2015, having graduated from the Leicester City academy.
The new signing revealed his eagerness to play in Lampard’s youthful side, hoping to gun for silverware next season.
“I’m looking forward to being a part of this young, dynamic squad led by Frank Lampard as we challenge for honors next season, He [Lampard] does play the younger players if they are good enough and just from speaking to him, I’m really excited to be here. I think the way the gaffer sets his teams up suits my game perfectly.” Chilwell said after signing.
Over the years, Chilwell scored four goals in 123 appearances in all competitions.
Chelsea will play in the UEFA Champions League next season after finishing in fourth position above Leicester City last season in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, at the King Power Stadium, Jamie Vardy signed a new contract with the foxes to keep him at the club till 2023.
The deal is a one-year extension for the 33-year-old whose contract had two years left on it before the new extension.
The striker scored 23 goals last season in the English Premier League to win the Golden Boot award.
Having joined Leicester City in 2012, the former England striker has spent eight years at the club and has 310 Appearances scoring 130 goals for the team.
