With Raheem Sterling’s contract getting into its final 12 months at Manchester City, the English forward has been made a big target by Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Chelsea, who recently had a change in ownership with American Todd Boehly replacing Roman Abramovich, has been rather reserved in the transfer market this summer.
Roman Ibrahimovic was heavily hit with sanctions by the UK government due to his relationship with the Russian government in relation to the invasion of Ukraine in February.
Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling’s contract at Manchester City is in discussion as he approaches the final 12 months, while he has also been a subject of interest from clubs in Europe as well as Premier League rivals.
Manchester City has already done transfer business this summer, bringing in forwards Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund and Julian Alvarez from Argentina.
The 27-year-old Raheem Sterling scored 13 goals in the Premier League for Manchester City last season, but his game time was limited, and only started the UEFA Champions League final against Real Madrid on the bench.
The forward is also looking to boost his chances with the Three Lions ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November.
Also, Chelsea believes that they can persuade Sterling to stay in England with their offer. Previously, Sterling was said to be on the radar of Arsenal, but the gunners have now gone ahead to put the attention on players like Victor Osimhen, Youri Tieleman, and Sterling’s Manchester City teammates Gabriel Jesus.
The Mikel Arteta left side has also signed Fabio Viera. from FC Porto, including a teenage striker Marquinhos from Brazil, as well as a five-year contract extension to Eddie Nketiah.
Arsenal manager Arteta revealed his delight at Nketiah’s stay.
“I’m delighted Eddie is staying with us, He represents what we are all about and all the values of the club,” Arteta said.
