Earlier in the day, Rangers traveled to face St. Johnston as Steven Gerrard’s men went 2-0 up courtesy of goals from Kamberi and Joe Aribo. However, things turned around as St. Johnston forward Stevie May denied the Ibrox side an away win as the forward drew his side level in the 80th minute.
Following Rangers draw at St. Johnston, Celtic began their game as they fell behind when Eamonn Brophy was brought down in the 18-yard box by Jozo Simunovic, which saw the forward convert the resulting penalty to put his side 1-0 up in the sixth minute. The full-time whistle blew at the home ground of St. Johnston, and the players felt devastated, hoping Kilmarcock will hold on their one-goal lead.
However, Rangers’ hopes were dented when Celtic’s frontman Kristoffer Ajer scored from Julien cut back to draw the Hoops level.
Celtic didn’t put their foot off the pedal as they continued to swarm the visitors, and their dividends paid off as five minutes later as Greg Taylor’s was flicked on by Simunovic before Odsonne Edouard made sure the ball crossed the line.
The second half began as Alan Power got his marching orders after receiving his second yellow card for a dangerous tackle on Jeremie Frimpong. Celtic took advantage of the situation, as the impressive Greg Taylor whipped in another dangerous cross, which was converted by Leigh Griffiths to seal a 3-1 win for the Scottish Champions.
Celtic impressive record continues as they have now won 15 out of their 16 games at home with 32 goals scored since their resumption from the winter break. They keep their lead on top of the SPFL log with 12 points adrift Rangers will eleven games to spare.
