Scottish Champions Celtic has yet again thrown their net into the South American region in Argentina as they look to capture another signing.
Following the early summer arrival of Alexandro Bernabei from Argentine-based club Lanus, the Hoops have now identified another target in the person of Fausto Vera.
Vera, who plies his trade in his homeland Argentina, for his club side Argentinos Juniors, has caught the attention of the Scottish scouts.
Manager Postecoglou revealed before this summer window that he wants to bring players from leagues in South America. With the look of things presently, Bernabei might not be the only South American signing as there could be more arrivals.
The midfielder [Vera], who primarily is a holding midfielder, also can play as a box-to-box midfielder.
The 22-year-old boasts 7 goals and 3 assists in 71 appearances across all competitions for his club side [Argentinos Juniors], which seems fair for his position. However, reports have it that Vera hasn’t been having a good time with his manager Gabriel Milito which has made him choose the option of a move abroad.
This might be his opportunity for a big move as he has played a large number of games and captained his side, and considering his current age, there is still a lot of improvement and more to come from him if Celtic do finally get their man.
Since Nir Bitton’s exit this summer, Celtic has been circling the market for a holding midfielder. With the Potential coming on board of Vera, they could have a very good player at their disposal if the right amount is offered.
However, further reports claim Celtic isn’t the only club in the race as Belgium, and fellow Argentinean side Racing Club de Avellaneda and Genk are also battling for his signature. Still, neither clubs are yet to meet the club valuation in a region of £5m.
Nothing more would please Postecoglou if he finally gets Vera as they look to continue their preparations for the new season.
