According to reports emanating from Scotland, Scottish giants Celtic have enquired about the availability of Waasland Beveren defender Aleksander Vukotic.
The same reports suggest that the vast centre-back is expected to exit his side in Belgium this season, with other clubs in the Belgian division vying for his signature. However, his current deal with the club runs till 2023.
Celtic interest in Vukotic now means the burden is on manager Neil Lennon to get the deal done with. For the Hoops to get their man, they have to be consistent and go with a solid offer as reports have stated that the Belgian side Mechelen is the only club to present a solid offer so far.
Vukotic has been tremendous in the Belgian league this season and has given a lot of convincing performances at the back. Though a little bit taller than Ajer, the Serbian has shown he could bring more to the table and help form a strong partnership with Christopher Jullien at the heart of the defense. His no-nonsense attitude at the back has shaped him into a very reliable defender, and Celtic will be happy they have got their man.
Christopher Ajer, on the other hand, has been attracting a lot of interest from Premier League side Leicester City. Celtic ex-manager Brendan Rodgers has been lurking around his former club to snap up the players. If this move falls through, and Ajer leaves, Celtic will have to take a quick measure and sign the Serbian if they are interested in his services.
