Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has revealed that he and his teammates are already looking forward to their European Super Cup game against Frankfurt, where they hope to be in the best conditions for the game.
Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1-0 in Paris in May to win their 14th UEFA Champions League title, while Frankfurt got past Rangers to win the UEFA Europa League title.
Now both sides will meet for the UEFA European Super Cup, which serves as a curtain raiser for a new UEFA Champions League season.
The game is slated for Wednesday, August 10th, at the Helsinki stadium, but before then, there are three preseason games for Real Madrid to navigate, including an El Clasico fixture on Sunday, July 24th, in Las Vegas, USA.
While speaking ahead of the clash with Barcelona on Sunday, he revealed that the team wants to go on and win more trophies with Real Madrid and that the preseason will help the team get in better shape ahead of the Super Cup.
“Our goal is to reach the European Supercup final against Eintracht in optimal condition. This is what the preseason is for. We have to keep working step by step so that every player is ready to go on August 10th,” he said.
Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League and the La Liga double last season. Carvajal played 34 games in all competitions for the Los Blancos, including 24 La Liga games and 11 UEFA Champions League fixtures.
Meanwhile, the preseason tie against Barcelona will be Real Madrid’s first game since beating Liverpool in Paris. Vinicius Junior scored the winning goal on that night while Carvajal played all ninety minutes.
Real Madrid’s preseason fixtures include Mexican Club Club America and Juventus before the UEFA Super Cup.
