Cadiz CF is clear that it needs to reinforce the squad for next season. But to hire new players, the club needs to free itself from others.
Diario Cadiz reported that the club has already informed several players about his departure from the club.
The list of players who will leave Cadiz includes Pedro Alcala, Jorge Pombo, and Filip Malbašić.
The case of Pedro Alcala is curious since he barely arrived at the club last season. The player was an emergency sign to reinforce the club’s defense. His contract expires next year, so the club will seek to loan him or make a recession of the contract to get rid of the player.
For his part, Filip Malbašić has a contract with the club until 2023. The hierarchy of Cadiz would be trying to sell the player to earn some cash. Although the player has not had much action with the club, he declared that he felt comfortable and that he did not want to leave the club.
“It is true that this season is a bit strange for me. Everyone wants to play and participate more. In this team there are very good players and the team has been good and it was not easy to enter. It only remains to train hard and wait for more action. It is the only way to gain the confidence of a coach. “Malbašić said after a workout in April.
But it seems that despite Malbašić’s hard work, he failed to win the approval of Alvaro Cervera.
Finally, the other player who knows that his future is far from the club is Jorge Pombo. The player showed a good performance at the beginning of the 2020/21 season, but little by little, he lost prominence. Last November, Alvaro Cervera said that he had stopped using Pombo because he did not fit the style of play that the club needed.
Pombo has a contract with Cadiz until 2023, so the club will loan it or sell it.
Esports Migdia of Capital Radio Valencia consulted Alvaro Cervera about the type of players he wants in the club; he replied: “I tell the players that we are in a city, in a club, that it has a history and that is what we have to defend. The feeling towards this club is what is going to make us better or worse, regardless of whether we play well, badly or whether the rival plays better than us or not. But what will save us at key moments is the feeling of belonging to a city, a club and what we represent. This is how I see it. Maybe because I’m more sentimental, but I try to instill in them, and that’s the type of player I want. The player who makes money one year in one club and the next year in another, I see it well because it is his job, but it is worthless to me. The player worth more to me is the one who has that plus of being comfortable where he is, and I think that makes them better”.
