Ahead of their Champions League clash, Paris Saint-Germain are currently on course for an early exit from this year’s edition.
PSG, the semi-finalists in last season’s UEFA Champions League, have just one win in this year’s Champions League campaign, which came courtesy of Paulo Gazzaniga’s late error in the opener against Girona.
They have gathered just four points from their first five games, leaving them 25th in the revamped ‘League Phase’ of the competition. This means that, as things stand, they will crash out of the Champions League in the first round.
This leaves the Ligue 1 champions under pressure with three games remaining. Les Parisien are in desperate need of points as they fave Red Bull Salzburg, Manchester City, and VfB Stuttgart in the remaining Champions League clash.
The first of those matches will be in Salzburg on Tuesday. This has made Bradley Barcola sound the alarm.
The winger, who noted that things have become difficult now for the Ligue 1 giants, said they need to win this match and the next three.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the French international said they aren’t putting any extra pressure on themselves, but it is now or never.
PSG need to finish in the top 24 to progress to the next stage of the competition.
Meanwhile, PSG could be on course for a relatively calm transfer window.
According to a report from Le Parisien, the club’s transfer window will be conditioned by departures.
According to reports, PSG seem open to selling Randal Kolo Muani and Milan Skriniar this January. Both have been bit-part players this season, and Les Parisiens would, therefore, be open to offers for the duo.
However, should they both stay, PSG may likely not conduct any transfer business, except if there are major injuries.
PSG has also been boosted by the returns of Gonçalo Ramos and Lucas Hernandez. The duo, who have recovered from long-term injuries, are in Les Parisiens’ squad to face RB Salzburg on Tuesday.
PSG would likely sign a replacement should Kolo Muani leave.
