Borussia Dortmund is keen on keeping fullback Achraf Hakimi beyond the summer, but the decision depends on the player if he genuinely wants to leave the club.
After his move to the Bundesliga side on an 18-month loan deal, Hakimi has developed into one of the finest fullbacks in the world. His performance has also seen him nailed down a starting spot in the team, which has seen him been a constant threat and an excellent weapon for Dortmund.
However, his loan deal is due to expire at the end of the campaign, and there have been a lot of rumors on whether he will stay or not. The Spanish giants Real Madrid are keen to have him back, but Dortmund wants the Moroccan international to commit and append his signature finally to the club.
The fullback told reporters that he is happy to be at Borussia Dortmund, but he hasn’t decided on whether to continue next season or not.
He said, “I’m working on my improvements in all areas. It’s a gradual process, and I am still learning, which is not the end of my development.”.
When quizzed as to how he feels about both clubs, the defender kept mute for some seconds and said his heart is divided between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. With that reaction, it is clear that the Morrocan loves Dortmund, but his heart is set for a return to Spain.
His loan deal is due to expire in six months before he returns but reveals he is comfortable at the moment.
Achraf Hakimi’s value has been on the rise during his time at Dortmund, and even if Marid decides to sell, they won’t let go on the cheap.
Bayern is also interested in the fullback, but there are suggestions that he would not swap Dortmund for the Bavarians.
