Italy captain Leonardo Bonucci says the English football team is braver than his Italian team because they discover new talents and have no fear of making them play.
He said this at a press conference on Thursday ahead of the UEFA Nations League clash against the Three Lions scheduled for San Siro today.
In their last meeting after the Euro 2020 finals, both made played a goalless draw in England.
While noting that the game is crucial for them, the Juventus skipper said it will make the Azzurri understand where they are.
“We’ll learn where we have to improve. There isn’t a better game. We’ll have to beware of their stars. They have players who can win the game in a moment,” Bonucci said.
Bonucci, who is among those that have faced criticism after Italy failed to qualify for Qatar 2022 World Cup, has also had a poor start alongside his Juventus teammates.
Max Allegri benched him in the last Serie A game against Monza. Allegri’s assistant Marco Landucci had also claimed that the veteran was snubbed because of a tactical choice.
Bonucci, who led Italy to success at the last European championship, has remained himself, no matter the situation.
The Azzurri fans have not been happy with them over the failure to qualify for the world cup.
While noting that his career has always been like this, Bonucci said he is not worried, having lived worse moments in his life.
Not thinking about World Cup 2026, Bonucci, who could have retired by that time, said it’s not his target, adding that all he wants is to stay with the team until he can and help.
Harry Kane has been in hit form. Having faced him on several occasions, Bonucci said they have studied the new strikers these days.
“Surely, England are advantaged because they continuously discover new talents and have the courage to make them play,” he added.
