Bill Foley recently took over at Bournemouth, but the American has big plans and ambitions for the club.
In an interview he gave to ‘The Athletic’, the also owner of the NHL’s Las Vegas Golden Knights, highlighted his plans and ambitions for the club.
“We want to do things better. I want this team to play in Europe. Our ultimate goal is not to worry about avoiding relegation, but to move up the table.
“To do that, we have to improve our equipment, improve our facilities, our infrastructure. We have to be a place where players want to go, where agents say this is a place you want to go. It is not a springboard but a destination. I know we can do it because I did it with the Golden Knights.”
We have a path to majority ownership, and starting in June, we will have about 40% of the team. The multiclub model is the second part of the story. If I’m going to acquire players, why don’t I acquire them myself? It is much less expensive. The only drawback is that if you have two or three really good teams, only one can play in Europe (UEFA)”.
“I am being honest. Many Ligue 1 players want to move to the Premier League and we want to give them that opportunity. We want Lorient to be very good and if they can play in Europe, we would like them to. We want you to have the chance to get to Europe. If a player wants to move on, I don’t want him to move to Liverpool or Arsenal, I want him to move with us.”
In this way, Bournemouth joins the list of teams that have great capital to substantially improve their roster and become a force in the Premier, as happened in the past to Manchester City and recently to Newcastle.
