England midfielder Jude Bellingham has revealed that he is happy to show the critics of his game what he could do after England’s 2-1 win over Slovakia.
The Three Lions of England move into the next round of the Euros in Germany, qualifying for the quarterfinal stage, although they need to do it in extra time to earn that 2-1 victory.
Slovakia were on their way to doing the unthinkable. I scored in the first half of the game and led till the 94th minute when England equalized. Ivan Schranz’s 25th-minute strike gave Slovakia the lead, and it looked like it would be enough to see them into the quarterfinals.
However, a moment of brilliance from Jude Bellingham when he scored with an overhead kick in the 94th minute to drag the game to extra time, while Harry Kane scored the winner early into the first part of extra time.
The Real Madrid midfielder spoke about his delight in returning to his scoring form while admitting that playing for England is a lot of pressure, which he ironically enjoys.
“Playing for England is an enjoyable feeling but it’s also a lot of pressure. You hear people talk a lot of rubbish. It’s nice when you can deliver and give them a little bit back. It’s very difficult when you talk in press conferences and interviews to talk as openly as footballers want to because they’re always judged,” said Bellingham.
The 21-year-old midfielder had nineteen goals and six assists as Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League and La Liga doubles, with four goals and assists in the former.
England will now face Switzerland in the quarterfinal of the competition, hoping to replicate and better their 2020 feat as they got to the final of the competition, where they lost to Italy on penalties at Wembley.
