On Wednesday, Leandro Trossard scored a brace in Belgium’s big comeback win against Poland in the UEFA Nations League.
Belgium went behind Poland when Robert Lewandowski scored in the 28th minute of the game. However, the game took Belgium’s turn when Axel Witsel scored before the break.
Kevin de Bruyne scored his 24th international goal in the 59th minute to move into Belgium’s top 10 scorers. Leandro Trossard scored two goals in 7 minutes, and Leander Dendoncker and Openda scored late goals to round up the big victory.
It’s a return to winning ways for the Belgians led by Roberto Martinez after they lost their first Nations League game against the Netherlands with a 4-1 scoreline.
The Netherlands continued their winning ways with a 2-1 win over Wales. The Dutch needed a late goal from
Weghorst to secure a win over the team that secured a World Cup ticket against Ukraine last weekend. It’s the first time in over 60 years that the Welsh qualified for the world cup.
The Netherlands opened the scoring through Teun Koopmeiners in the 50th minute of the game. The Oranjes thought they had won the game until the much-changed Wales side scored in added time through Norrington-Davies, but there was enough time for a winner through Wout Weghorst.
The Netherlands remain top of group A4 in the top division, while Wales are yet to secure a win in two matches after losing 2-1 to Poland in their opening game of the Nations League campaign.
In other matches, two first-half goals for Scotland were enough to see them pick three points against Armenia, while Ukraine bounced back from their FIFA World Cup miss with a 1-0 win over Ireland.
On Thursday, more games to follow, with Portugal facing the Czech Republic and Switzerland playing Spain.
