Following the recent capture of Matthijs de Ligt last week, it might seem Bayern are not yet done with their business in the transfer market this summer as they look to add more personnel in the middle of the park and the attacking department.
According to the latest reports, Bayern has once again approached RB Leipzig for their star midfielder Konrad Laimer.
Earlier this summer, the Bundesliga champions bid around 20m euros which were immediately rejected.
Further reports suggest a second approach packaged for Laimer by Bayern in the region of €23m [addons inclusive] has also been rejected as Leipzig remains their stance on getting €30m without installments if they are to part ways with their most prized asset.
However, Both clubs are set to continue negotiations for an agreement to be reached in the coming days.
Bayern and Leipzig are set to go head to head in the DFL Super Cup clash in the coming days. Hence, they need to quickly wrap up a deal as Nagelsmann favors the Australian international, having previously worked with him during his time at the club.
On the other hand, Leipzig will have no choice but to sell as Laimer will become a free agent next summer, with the midfielder preferring the move to the Allianz Arena and having no intentions to join another club than Bayern.
The Bavarians have been regular poachers of RB Leipzig players after signing the likes of Dayot Upamecano, Marcel Sabitzer, and current manager Julian Nagelsmann
If Bayern eventually gets their man, the plan is to use Laimer as a cover for Joshua Kimmich due to loads of fixtures and fitness concerns of Leon Goretzka, who has been struggling with injuries of late.
It is believed that Bayern will return for a third bid and hope to secure Laimer services this time.
Bayern continued their preseason preparation after thrashing MLS side DC United 6-2 on Thursday, with new signings Mane and de Ligt getting on the scoresheet. Marcel Sabitzer, Gnabry, Zirkzee, and Muller eventually completed the thrashing.
