Bayern Munich CEO Karl Heinz Rummenigge has admitted that the club is confident of reaching a consensus of contract extension with Skipper and shot-stopper Manuel Neuer
In the current time of this lockdown, Bayern has kept themselves busy working on extending players’ contracts as they aim to build their squad in preparation for the current season and the coming one.
Following the contract renewals of Thomas Muller, Hansi Flick, and also the latest players to follow the footsteps of the duo, Alphonso Davies, who has also put pen to paper on Monday as Bayern worked towards renewing their contracts.
Another player next in line for a new deal is Thiago Alcantara, as he approaches the final year of his current contract together with David Alaba and Manuel Neuer.
Just a few weeks ago, there were reports that Neuer was not happy with the club’s initial offer, which his agent has come out to deny such reports saying that his client only wants a long term deal with the Bavarians. Also, in addition to this, the agent cleared the air about the reported figures, which they demanded as a condition for renewal.
The Bundesliga giants have made it clear times and over again that they are interested in keeping the 32-year old beyond the coming year [2021].
However, speaking to a news outlet in Germany, Karl Heinz Rummenigge gave a confident speech as regards the locked negotiations between the club and Neuer’s agent for a new contract.
“I am sure that with a critical player like Manuel, we will finally reach an agreement at the end of it all. Neuer is a fantastic guy, and he has been with the club for me years now. In him, we have one of the best goalkeepers in the world, winning every title both at home and abroad. I am positive all we are sorted out soon, and we will have him here for a long time”.
However, there have been some positive news as Bundesliga action resumes on the 9th of May following two weeks of training, but matches will still be played behind closed doors
