Bayern Chief Uli Höeness has ruled out the prospect of the Club signing a central defender in January after Sule suffered an injury in the match against Augsburg during the weekend.
It was a pretty lousy weekend for Bayern as they dropped points away at home as if that wasn’t enough they lost their Centre back Niklas Sule to injury, and after further tests, Bayern confirmed that Niklas Sule ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The points dropped left the Bavarians third in the league table one point behind Borussia Monchengladbach.
The injury suffered to Sule will keep him out of action for up to six months, and there are further fears that he might be ruled out for the rest of the season. This is because this type of injury requires a slow and steady recovery time and not to be rushed to avoid setbacks.
Uli Höeness while speaking to her media, he said ” the injury to Niklas is a total disaster. We are not happy with the situation at all as it looks like the season is over. He is not going to make the Euro tournament. We will not bring in anyone”.
The Club’s Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic released a statement saying Niklas Sule has successfully undergone surgery on his left knee. And he has backed Sule to come back strongly after his injury. Sule has been an integral part of Bayern’s backline over the past two seasons.
It took awhile for the German international to settle down in the Club before he started showing why Bayern paid so much for him to bring him to the Club. It is expected of Sule to form a durable and long term partnership with Lucas Hernandez before Injury halted this progress. This has forced Niko Kovac to experiment at the back by moving Joshua Kimmich to the heart of the defence while Benjamin Pavard will play at the right back.
