Bayern Munich came close to securing the services of Trevoh Chalobah on the deadline day of the summer transfer window in Germany. However, the move for the Chelsea defender fell through in the final hours, along with the attempted signing of midfielder João Palhinha from Fulham.
According to reports from TEAMtalk (as per @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich and their manager, Thomas Tuchel, are considering a renewed pursuit of Chalobah during the upcoming winter transfer window. Chelsea has reportedly informed the 24-year-old defender that he can leave the club in January. Tuchel, who knows Chalobah well from his time as Chelsea manager, holds the player in high regard, and Bayern is eager to secure his services.
Chalobah himself has shown interest in joining Bayern Munich from Chelsea. It is suggested that Chelsea may ask for around €29 million for the transfer. While Bayern spent more on Harry Kane and Kim Min-jae during the summer transfer window, the club may have some negotiation leverage due to Chalobah’s lack of playing time at Chelsea this season, resulting in a gradual decrease in his market value.
Bayern Munich faced a shortage of right-back options after letting Benjamin Pavard and Josip Stanišić leave the club during the summer transfer window. Noussair Mazraoui is the only natural right-back in the squad, although Tuchel has occasionally utilized Konrad Laimer in that position.
During the summer transfer window, Bayern aimed for a loan deal for Chalobah, but Chelsea insisted on a permanent sale. This disagreement led to the transfer falling through. Now, with the winter transfer window approaching, Bayern Munich may have a chance to secure Chalobah’s signature if all conditions align, and Tuchel actively pursues the move.
