It was a festival of goals for Bayer Munich as they continued their perfect start to the new Bundesliga campaign after destroying their Bochum 7-0 on Sunday.
The Bavarians displayed a domineering performance where Sadio Mane got a brace, with his total tally so far now taken to three goals as he enjoys his debut season.
Nagelsmann’s men showed their ruthlessness in the first half, with Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sane, Matthijs de Ligt, and Sadio Mane putting Bayern firmly in the driving seat.
The defending champions weren’t done yet as the second half resumed with Mane converting a spot kick to get his brace.
To add more salt to the injury, Cristian Gamboa’s goal made it six nil after a brilliant through ball from Joshua Kimmich fed to the dangerous Leroy Sane, diverted by the Bochum defender.
Serge Gnabry came to the party as well to complete the rout with an emphatic win. This will be the second away game in a row this season in which Bayern has scored at least six goals after a 6-1 scoreline against Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2022/2023 curtain raiser.
Speaking after the game, Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann praised his side and revealed how pleased he was with the victory.
“I’m happy with the win and how the players show great character in every game. This is what we want.” although we still need to attain some level, and we will keep getting better each game.” He said.
Bayer showed how clinical they were even with the exit of their talismanic forward. With the addition of Sadio Mane, the Bavarians seem not to slow down as they have been brilliant and keep delivering the goals.
The Senegalese International has three goals to his name, indicating he could get more goals this season.
Bayer will hope to pick it up where they left off this weekend as they welcome Borussia M’gladbach to the Allianz Arena on Saturday, 27th August 2022.
