With the German Bundesliga currently on a short break, Bayern Munich has been active behind the scenes as they look to work on contract renewals and potentially seek recruitment of personnel in positions of interest.
One player whose future hangs in the balance is Alphonso Davies.
The club is doing its due diligence in at least exploring what other options might be out there if the Canadian international takes the exit route.
Previous players like AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez, who has consistently been linked to Bayern Munich since last summer, are also favorites for this position.
Now, reports have it that there is another left-back allegedly on the club’s radar.
Bnfica’s Álvaro Carreras has now become the latest name on Bayern Munich’s list of left-backs. The Benfica man has now become a subject of interest for the Bavarian hierarchy. A move this January might not necessarily happen as there have been no signs of positive encouragement from Davies’s camp.
Hopefully, before the winter window or season ends, things will be clear between the club and the player before any activity in the summer.
For now, Vincent Kompany will prepare his side and focus on the second part of the Bundesliga season. The Bavarians will hope to wrestle back the title from current holders Bayer Leverkusen.
Kompany’s side prepared for a friendly fixture against RB Salzburg on Monday in a bid to keep players fit and refresh against Borussia M’Gladbach on Saturday, 11th January.
Other players yet to decide their futures, like Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sane, Joshua Kimmich, and Jamal Musiala, will be hopeful of committing to their long-term futures unless things take a new turn. Although, as of now, the club are hopeful of their stay.
Bayern Munich currently sit at the top of the Bundesliga table with 36 points in 15 games. While star striker Harry Kane leads the top scorer chart with 14 goals.
