As the summer transfer window moves towards the end, there seem to be more players set to exit Camp Nou, and one of the latest names is American defender Sergino Dest.
Barcelona have been active in the transfer window, signing players like Andreas Christensen from Chelsea on a free transfer, Franck Kessie from AC Milan on a free transfer, Raphinha from Leeds United in a deal worth €60.7m.
The biggest name as to be Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich for €45 million and Jules Kounde from Sevilla.
However, there have been exits as Barcelona sought to balance the books while some others took the pay cut offer among others.
Some of the players who had to leave include Luuk de Jong on loan to Sevilla, while Dani Alves’ contract expired.
Riqui Puig moved to the MLS with LA Galaxy on a free while the goalkeeper Neto joined Bournemouth on a free transfer. Nico Gonzalez and Samuel Umtiti also moved to the Seria A.
However, the exits seem to remain with Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang already linked with a move to Chelsea while Sergino Dest is wanted by Manchester United.
Erik Ten Hag had initially set his sights on Frenkie De Jong, whom he worked with at Ajax, but with the midfielder’s insistence on staying at Barcelona, the Dutch manager now wants Dest.
Dest has been declared surplus to requirements at Camp Nou, but United could make him a replacement for Aaron Wan Bissaka.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s manager Thomas Tuchel has reiterated that he needs more signings before the end of the transfer window.
The Blues have signed Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling most prominently this summer, but the German tactician believes the Londoners still need an injection of a new striker in the team.
Pierre Emerick Aubameyang joined Barcelona from Arsenal, and Marcos Alonso will be moving from the blues to join Barcelona, albeit Barcelona stated that they don’t want a player swap but rather a fixed payment of around €20M for Aubameyang.
