Barcelona unveiled their new signing Ferran Torres on Monday afternoon at the Camp Nou, stating that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is the best coach in the world.
After agreeing to leave the Etihad Stadium, Torres joined Barcelona in a deal worth €55m (£46m) plus add-ons.
The 21-year old revealed that despite playing as a striker for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, his preferred position is right-wing.
Nevertheless, he expressed that he will remember the memories of things learnt under the Spanish manager.
“Guardiola is one of the best coaches in the world, He made me play in different positions, so I’ve learned to play as a forward. I will take many nice memories of my time at City, things I’ve learned. He advised me that I face this next challenge with lots of enthusiasm, with humility and with excitement.”
Meanwhile, Barcelona fans will have to wait for his first La Liga appearance for the side after he tested positive for Covid-19.
The Spanish international is expected to debut against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super cup next week. Torres has not played since October due to a foot injury.
Barcelona started 2022 with a 1-0 victory against Mallorca in the La Liga on Sunday evening.
Meanwhile, Villarreal thrashed Levante 5-0 on Monday evening; Nigerian forward Samuel Chukwueze, who was playing the final game for the team before travelling to the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, provided the assist for the opening goal of the game.
Boulaye Dia headed home from close range after the Nigerian forward had collected a long-range pass before pulling a cross into the box to find his teammate in the 8th minute.
Pau Torres then added the second five minutes later. It was Gerard Moreno who made it three before halftime.
The second half saw the Yellow Submarines add two more goals for an emphatic victory.
