FC Barcelona has made alternative plans to bring in a striker should the move to bring in Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez fail to materialize.
The Swede, 20, is considered as the younger and cheaper option. The deal with Inter Milan took another turn on Wednesday when the Italian side asked for French forward Antoine Griezmann as part of a swap deal if the Spanish La Liga wants Lautaro Martinez.
Barcelona has been looking to sign a new striker and the team in recent weeks has been linked heavily to bring in Lautaro to the Camp Nou.
However, the Argentine striker is highly valued by the San Siro side and deemed important to the plans of the Mauricio Sarri.
Radio Barcelona reported that Isak, who has been impressive with Real Sociedad the current season could move over to the Camp Nou due to his young age and relatively lower price.
The player has a 70-million-euro release clause after moving to the Spanish side from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund for just 30 Million Euros with a buy-back clause.
He has scored fourteen times for Real Sociedad in 34 matches played this season. The player also has international experience having made his debut in 2017, making 12 appearances and scoring four goals.
He started his career with Swede side AIK where he made 24 appearances in the 2016/2017 season before joining Borussia Dortmund.
Real Sociedad are currently in the race for a UEFA Champions League spot sitting in 4th position in the La Liga standings.
The team has 46 points in fourth, one less than Sevilla in third, although tied with Getafe, who sit in fifth only inferior on goal differences.
Forty-five goals are what Real Sociedad had scored this season, and they have conceded 33 times while Barcelona and Real Madrid are in top two, respectively, although the coronavirus pandemic has led to the league suspended and the La Liga has stated that the earliest resumption is late May.
