Ferran Torres scored a brace while Pierre Emerick Aubameyang also got on the score sheet as Barcelona got a 4-0 victory over Osasuna in the La Liga on Sunday evening.
The victory is coming on the back of the 0-0 draw with Turkish side Galatasaray in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening. Xavi’s side were wasteful in that first leg encounter but quickly banished any sign of similar wastefulness on Sunday evening.
Barcelona got into the lead in the 14th minute when Ferran Torres scored from the spot after Gavi was brought down in the box.
Seven minutes later, the former Manchester City forward made it 2-0 before Aubameyang made it 3-0 in the 27th minute, but the team had to wait for the 75th minute of the second half before getting the fourth and final goal of the night through Riqui Puig.
Barcelona are now in the third position on the table with 51 points, twelve points behind Real Madrid, who top the La Liga table, and Xavi’s side will now face Galatasaray in Turkey in the second leg of the encounter on Thursday.
In other results on Sunday, Rayo Vallecano was held to a 1-1 draw by Sevilla, Thomas Delany’s 63rd-minute strike cancelling out Bebe’s opener in the first half for the home side.
Meanwhile, Borja Iglesias’s 20th-minute goal was enough for Real Betis to get a 1-0 win over Atletico Bilbao. While Real Sociedad also recorded a similar scoreline against Alaves.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid wi travel to Real Mallorca on Monday, the home side are on a four-game losing streak while Real Madrid are on the back of a morale-boosting win against PSG in the UEFA Champions League last week, a result that knocked the French side 3-2 on aggregate and sends the Madrid side to the next round of the competition.
