Wales and Real Madrid forward, Gareth Bale has gone under fire from fans after he was pictured with a controversial banner after Wales secured Qualification into next year’s European Championships.
Juventus midfielder, Aaron Ramsey scored in each half against Hungary on Tuesday evening to ensure that the Welsh qualified for the 2020 Euros, their second after their debut in France 2016.
However, it’s the Welsh Skipper’s gesture after the game that has seen him been accused of making a mockery of his Spanish club Real Madrid.
The former Spurs player after the final whistle stood smiling alongside fellow teammates with a Wales flag that had “Wales, Golf, Madrid,” an indication of his priorities in that order.
The incident has enraged fans and the media in Spain, with many questioning his commitment and readiness to play for Zinedine Zidane’s team.
Before now, the Wales captain in the previous week before the international break claimed he feels a bigger excitement to play for the national team than the capital club, a statement that hasn’t gone down well with the fans of the Los Blancos.
Also, Bale has not featured for Real Madrid since the first week in October due to a reported Calf injury, but he was fit for Wales Euros Qualifiers in the November international window both against Hungary at the Cardiff City Stadium and in the victory in Azerbaijan.
However, the viral picture has sparked the rage in Spain both among Madrid fans and non-Madrid fans and it is expected that the player, who failed to get a transfer move out of the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer with two years left on his £600,000 per week contract, may get a hostile reception from home fans in the home tie against Real Sociedad on Saturday in the Spanish La Liga.
Gareth Bale so far has notched thirty-three goals in eighty-three National Team appearances.
It is expected that the star forward may move to China in January if Jiangsu Suning revives their £1M per week offer.
Gareth Bale is available at 180.00 to win the La Liga topscorer award.
