After loaning out Joao Felix to Chelsea, Atletico Madrid are keen to add more firepower to their attacking line and hence they are looking at FC Barcelona forward Memphis Depay. The Dutch forward is versatile and is someone who will add more variety and goals to their setup.
Hence the Rojiblancos have reportedly proposed a seap deal with the Blaugrana involving Depay and Thomas Lemar. However recent reports from Gerard Romero suggests that Belgium international Yannick Carrasco’s name was also brought up in this conversation. But for now all the deals are open and the players can move anytime as nothing as of no is confirm apart from the interest shown by the clubs
It is understood that Atletico Madrid are very reluctant to move away from Carrasco mainly due to his ability to play as a winger, forward and has also done well as a wingback providing width and also has great workrate which helps him in tracking back. Overall he is a very utility player and not someone who Atleti wants to lose in the January transfer market. So now the Rojiblancos will have to sit with him and tie him to a new deal as the 29-year-old is ready to make the move to FC Barcelona.
On the other hand, Depay is hardly in Xavi’s plans currently and with the offers he has on his table from all over Europe, he is more inclined towards Atletico Madrid but now his fate depends on Yannick Carrasco. The Belgian certainly is interested to don Barcelona colours but Atleti are not readyto lose such a utility player. Overall it is a tigh situation and with Carrasco’s deal ending it will be interesting to see what unfolds in the coming week.
There are also news regarding Raphinha’s move out of Camp Nou as Spanish publication Nacional has reported that the Brazilian may move out of the club with Premier League leaders Arsenal showing heavy interest in them. The Gunners lost out on Shakhtar Donetsk talent Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea and now they are looking for alternatives. But only time will tell which move will come to fruition and which one will only stay as rumours.
Looking at the current season, the Catalans are riding high after that Supercopa de Espana win against Real Madrid as they won 3-1. It was Gavi who opened the scoring followed by goals from Robert Lewandowski and Pedri as they simply dominated their arch rivals. Los Blancos could only salvage a late consolation goal from Karim Benzema. This was FC Barcelona’s first trophy win under Xavi and they will hope that they will win more.
The Catalans are also on top of the La Liga table, three points clear of second placed Real Madrid. They have been pretty dominant in domestic tournaments this season and the fans and the players are hoping that they can win more silverware this year.
