38-year-old fullback Ashley Young will hold a medical session at Merseyside club Everton on Tuesday ahead of a move to the Toffees. Ashley Young ran out of contract at Aston Villa this summer despite playing 32 games last season for them in the Premier League and failed to renew his contract with the team.
The former Manchester United, since becoming a free agent, has received offers from newly-promoted club side Luton Town and huge deals from Saudi Arabia but has chosen to join Everton.
The former England winger turned Defender played for Manchester United and Inter Milan in his career and won the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, and League Cup at Manchester United as well as the Serie A titles with Inter Milan.
He had 38 appearances for the Three Lions of England and even played in the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup in 2018, as England finished third in Russia.
Young is highly experienced, having recorded 700 career games for club and country, including 32 appearances for Villa last season. His experience will be an added advantage to an Everton side that has narrowly escaped relegation in the last two seasons.
Ashley Young will be Sean Dyches’s first signing in charge of Everton since January, when he replaced David Moyes before leading them to safety on the final day of the season.
Everton traveled to Switzerland on Monday for a five-day training camp in the Alps, where they will face second-division side Stade Nyonnais on Friday.
Meanwell UEFA Europa Conference League winners West Ham United started their own pre-season campaign with a 4-1 victory over lower league side Boreham Wood.
Jarrod Bowen and Danny Ings scored, while academy players Kamarai Simon-Swyer and Gideon Kadua also found the net.
