Inter Milan new signing, Arturo Vidal has started to train with the Serie A team after signing a two-year contract.
Vidal, who joined the Nerazzurri from Barcelona, has an option for the third year in his contract. He joined the Serie A giant from the Catalan giant as a free agent.
Barca had initially wanted €1m for the Chilean midfielder, but Inter put the fee under only performance-related bonuses.
Vidal, who had a stint with Juventus flew into Milan on Sunday night at Linate Airport. He then did his medical on Monday morning. After been given the all-clear, he signed the contract at the Inter HQ the following afternoon. Inter then made the official announcement on Tuesday morning.
This means that the 33-year-old midfielder has returned to Serie A, after playing for Juventus from 2011-15. He has therefore reunited with coach Antonio Conte, who signed him for the Bianconerri then. Vidal won three consecutive Serie A titles with the tactician. They will now be hoping to record success at San Siro.
Vidal had played for the reigning European champions, Bayern Munich before securing a move to Barcelona in 2018.
The Chile international will be looking forward to adding to his 124 Serie A appearances. He also scored 35 goals and provided 22 assists during his stint with the Turin club.
Vidal is now the sixth Chilean to play for Inter Milan. The33-year-old began his football career on a muddy pitch in Santiago where he had to endure many difficult days.
He began his football journey with Club de Deportes Rodelindo Román and later tried out for Colo-Colo while he was 12. His long journey on his bicycle proved fruitless, and Vidal returned to play for El Huasco. At the club, he was playing with 15-year-olds before being accepted by Colo-Colo three years later after another trial.
He made a slow start with Colo-Colo as his first two appearances were the last two matchdays of the championship. He then became part of the Colo-Colo squad that emerged Champion of Chile.
Having played with Alexis Sanchez at the club, they have now reunited at the club. Bayer Leverkusen then snaped him in 2007.
He didn’t flourish with Bayer Leverkusen in his four years stay in the Bundesliga, but it proved to be a formative experience, scoring 13 goals in his final season. He then became a leader in Juventus.
