Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed that the season is not over even though the Gunners’ Premier League title chance is no longer in their hands but rather tangled with Manchester City’s final six games of the season.
The Spaniard stated this ahead of Chelsea’s visit to Emirates Stadium on Tuesday in their next Premier League game with the hopes of going back to the top of the table even though it is temporary, as they now sit one point behind leaders Manchester City who still have a game in hand.
“We can still achieve the Premier League because there are five games to go, and a lot of things are going to happen still. When I look at it, this is not over. It is not in our hands anymore. What is in our hands is to try to win the games we have left, and the rest is down to City. I have not had to pick up the mood of the players. They keep the fire in the belly. What we have to do is forget about what happened last week, learn from it, and move on to the next game.” Arteta said.
Despite spending 247 days at the top of the Premier League table, Manchester City has only spent 16 days in contrast, but Mikel Arteta still believes that the next five games for his team and in the league are still the nicest part of the season for them.
Arsenal have already secured qualification to the UEFA Champions League next season, but they still hope to win their first Premier League title since 2003
After beating Arsenal 4-1 last week, Manchester City followed it up with a 2:1 win at Craven Cottage against Fulham on Sunday to move back to the top of the Premier League table as striker Erling Haaland scored his 34th Premier League goal of the season and reached the 50-goal mark in all competitions.
The citizens would then face West Ham United on Wednesday at Etihad Stadium, where they can then regain their top spots on the Premier League table.
